Arango Optic was built by someone who has spent two decades on the other side of the lens — working in optical labs, training sales teams, verifying prescriptions, and helping thousands of people find glasses that actually work for their vision and their life.

This is not a store built by people who sell products. It's a store built by someone who understands them.

Meet Paola Arango, Founder

Glasses are not just something you put on your face to see better. They're part of you. They're with you every waking hour — at work, with your family, in every moment that matters. Getting them right is not optional.

— Paola Arango, Founder of Arango Optic

Paola Arango has spent over 20 years working at every level of the eyewear industry — from optical retail chains and prescription labs to commercial teams and independent optical offices in the United States. She has worked directly with laboratories, lens manufacturers, optical professionals, and thousands of individual customers across Colombia and New York City.

Arango Optic exists because of everything she learned along the way — and everything she saw the industry getting wrong.

A Career Built Inside the Industry

Where It Started: Optical Retail in Colombia (2006)

Paola began her career in 2006 working for an optical retail chain in Colombia, where she developed a foundational understanding of the full spectrum of eyewear: frames, lenses, coatings, prescription types, and — most importantly — the real needs behind every customer who walked through the door. From that early experience, she learned that no two prescriptions, and no two people, are the same.

New York City: Nine Years at the Forefront of US Optical

In the United States, Paola spent nine years working alongside one of the most respected optical professionals in New York City — managing the full commercial operation of a high-end optical practice and handling every lens category: stock lenses, finished lenses, and fully custom digital lenses.
Those nine years gave her an intimate understanding of the US optical market: how American consumers think about their eyewear, what they expect from the buying experience, and where the industry consistently lets them down.

Commercial Work: Bridging Labs, Opticians, and Customers

Paola then moved into commercial roles, working at the intersection of optical laboratories, professional opticians, and end consumers. She trained sales teams on how to speak accurately and confidently about lens types, coatings, and new technologies — so that customers could walk away not just with a product, but with a genuine understanding of why that product was right for them.
She learned something important in this phase: most dissatisfaction with eyewear comes not from bad products, but from mismatches — the wrong frame for a strong prescription, the wrong coating for a specific lifestyle, the wrong lens material for someone's daily demands. Fixing those mismatches became her professional mission.

Into the Lab: Ophthalmic Lens Manufacturing

She went on to work for a major multinational company in the ophthalmic lens manufacturing sector, specifically in the development and processing of finished prescription lenses. In this role, she covered a large part of Colombian territory — working at the technical level with cutting, mounting, coatings, and the full range of prescription parameters across single vision, progressive, and specialty lenses.
This is where Paola developed her deep technical expertise: understanding how a prescription translates into a physical lens, what makes a lens perform well, and what distinguishes true quality from products that simply look the part. She also worked directly with some of the most recognized brands in the global lens market, giving her a clear-eyed view of what drives pricing and what actually affects the end product.

Operations & Growth: Running Multiple Locations

After New York, Paola took on a leadership role at a growing optical group, overseeing operations across multiple offices — managing laboratory relationships, vendor negotiations, sales teams, and direct customer service simultaneously. She was responsible for ensuring that every location delivered the same standard of care: every prescription correctly filled, every customer properly served, every problem resolved.
It is the kind of work that forces you to understand every link in the chain — and to know exactly where things can break down.

What Paola Knows That Most Online Stores Don't

Bad glasses don't just look wrong — they feel wrong. Headaches, dizziness, nausea, eye strain. When your glasses are off, no day is a good day. That's why this can't just be a transaction.
Paola Arango

After more than two decades in the industry, Paola has seen what happens when glasses are treated as a commodity. She has also seen what happens when they are treated as what they truly are: a precision-made, deeply personal product that affects every waking hour of a person's life.

— OUR VALUES —

What We Stand For

Every Prescription Tells a Story

A prescription is not just a set of numbers. It tells you what the person needs to see clearly, but it also tells you — if you know how to read it — what frame will work best for their lenses, what material will keep those lenses from being too heavy, what coatings will protect their specific type of vision, and how to make the whole thing feel comfortable from morning to night.
That is the knowledge Arango Optic brings to every order.

The Right Frame for the Right Prescription

Not every frame works with every prescription. A strong Rx in the wrong frame produces thick, heavy lenses. The wrong bridge width causes constant slipping. A poorly fitted temple arm means pain behind the ear by the end of the day. These are not edge cases — they are the most common reasons people end up unhappy with glasses they bought online.
At Arango Optic, our product curation, our lens recommendations, and our prescription verification process are all built around one goal: making sure what you receive is genuinely right for your vision — not just aesthetically, but optically and physically

Speed Without Shortcuts

Time matters. No one wants to wait weeks for their glasses, and no one wants to go through the frustration of a remake because something was rushed incorrectly the first time. Arango Optic is built to move quickly — verifying prescriptions efficiently, processing orders without unnecessary delays — because the fastest path to getting it right is doing it right the first time.

Why an Online Store?

Paola has spent most of her career inside physical optical environments — and that experience is precisely why she chose to build Arango Optic as a fully online store.

  • The physical retail model adds cost without always adding value. A significant portion of what you pay for glasses in a traditional optical store goes toward rent, staff overhead, and markups that have nothing to do with the quality of your lenses.
  • Online doesn't have to mean impersonal. With the right process behind it — real prescription verification, honest product guidance, accessible customer support — buying glasses online can be more careful, more transparent, and more suited to your actual needs than a quick in-store appointment.
  • The US market is underserved by trustworthy online options. Paola saw firsthand, in nine years of working in New York, how many people were either overpaying for glasses or settling for poor quality because they didn't know where else to go.

Arango Optic was built to be the option she would have confidently recommended to every one of those customers.
