Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about ordering prescription glasses at Arango Optic — from your first browse to your front door.
Ordering & Getting Started
Do I need a prescription to order glasses at Arango Optic?
Yes, a valid prescription is required to order prescription lenses. You can upload your prescription during checkout, or provide your eye doctor's contact information and we'll verify it directly with them. If you're ordering non-prescription frames only, no Rx is needed.
How do I upload my prescription?
During checkout, you'll see a step to add your prescription. You can type in the values manually, upload a photo or scan of your written prescription, or enter your eye doctor's information for direct verification. Our team reviews every prescription before your lenses are made.
How long is my prescription valid for?
In most US states, eyeglass prescriptions are valid for 1–2 years from the date of your eye exam. We recommend checking your prescription date before ordering. If yours has expired, you'll need a new eye exam before we can fill your order.
Can I order glasses without an eye exam if I already know my prescription values?
Yes. If you have your prescription values from a recent exam (within 1–2 years), you can enter them manually during checkout. We still verify the values before crafting your lenses to make sure everything is accurate.
What prescriptions do you support?
We support single vision (distance or reading), progressive (no-line bifocal), and bifocal lenses. We also handle prescriptions for astigmatism (including high CYL values) and stronger prescriptions. If you have a complex Rx and aren't sure, contact us and we'll confirm before you order.
Virtual Try-On
How does the virtual try-on work?
Our virtual try-on uses your device's front camera to map your facial features in real time. When you click 'Try On' on any frame page, the glasses are digitally placed on your face using augmented reality — accurately reflecting the frame's size, shape, and color. No app download is required.
Is the virtual try-on accurate enough to judge fit?
It's a strong indicator of how a frame will look on your face — shape, proportion, and color all come through clearly. For precise fit details (like exact frame width), we also list each frame's measurements on the product page so you can compare them to a pair you already own and love.
What devices support the virtual try-on?
The virtual try-on works on any modern smartphone, tablet, or laptop with a front-facing camera. It runs directly in your browser — no app or download needed. For the best experience, we recommend using it in good lighting.
Can I save or share my try-on photos?
Yes. After trying on a frame, you can take a screenshot or save the image from your device. We also allow you to save frames to a wishlist so you can come back and compare your favorites later.
Frames, Lenses & Materials
What frame materials do you carry?
Our collection includes acetate, titanium, TR90 (flexible plastic), stainless steel, and wood-blend frames. Each material page on our site explains the weight, durability, and best use case for each. If you're unsure, our lightweight frames guide can help you decide.
What lens types are available?
We offer single vision, progressive, bifocal, and non-prescription lenses. Lens upgrades include anti-reflective coating, blue light filtering, UV400 protection, scratch resistance, and photochromic (light-adaptive) lenses. You can build your lens package during checkout.
How do I know what frame size will fit me?
Every frame listing includes three key measurements: lens width, bridge width, and temple length — usually shown as something like 52-18-140. If you have a pair of frames that fit well, check the inside of the temple arm for these numbers and match accordingly. Our size guide can also help.
Do you carry designer frames?
Yes. Our collection includes frames from designer brands including Prada, Coach, Kate Spade, and others. Designer frames are available with full prescription lens customization at competitive online prices.
Are your frames made for strong prescriptions?
Yes. Many of our frames are compatible with stronger prescriptions. For high-index prescriptions (generally above ±4.00), we recommend frames with smaller lenses to keep lens thickness minimal. Contact us if you're unsure which frames will work best for your Rx.
Shipping & Delivery
Where do you ship?
Arango Optic ships to all 50 US states. We are a fully online store with no physical retail locations.
How long does it take to receive my glasses?
Most orders are delivered within 7–12 business days. This includes prescription verification (1–2 business days) and lens crafting time (3–5 business days), plus shipping. Express shipping options can reduce delivery time to 5–7 business days total.
How will I know when my order ships?
You'll receive an automated shipping confirmation email with a tracking number as soon as your order leaves our facility. You can also log in to your account to track your order at any time.
Returns, Exchanges & Warranty
What is your return policy?
We offer free returns within 30 days of delivery. If you're not completely satisfied — with the fit, the style, or anything else — contact us and we'll arrange a return, exchange, or full refund. Prescription lenses that have been made to order may be subject to a remake fee in certain cases; contact us and we'll always find a solution.
What if my prescription is wrong in my new glasses?
If there's any issue with your prescription lenses, contact us immediately. We will verify the prescription and remake the lenses at no charge. Getting your prescription right is our responsibility — no exceptions.
Can I exchange frames for a different style?
Yes. Within 30 days of delivery, you can exchange your frames for a different style. If your new choice requires different lenses, lens fees may apply. Contact us to start an exchange and we'll walk you through the process.
Pricing, Insurance & Payment
Does Arango Optic accept vision insurance?
We currently accept out-of-network vision insurance reimbursement. We'll provide an itemized receipt after your purchase that you can submit to your insurance provider (VSP, EyeMed, Davis Vision, and most others) for reimbursement. We also accept FSA and HSA funds.
Are there any hidden fees?
No. The price you see on the product page reflects the frame cost. Lens upgrades (anti-reflective coating, blue light, etc.) are itemized clearly during checkout so you always know exactly what you're paying for before you confirm your order.
